Remote trails of Indochina, Cao Bang region

Overview

In a region still subject to requests for permits to travel, which is gradually opening up but remains isolated and therefore authentic and off the beaten track. The relief here is particular, mixing rocky peaks, vast plains covered with rice fields, generous rivers and mountains… You will meet the Tay, Nung, Dao ethnic groups along the hiking trails… You will experience a total and authentic immersion in villages which very rarely see foreigners and where the population live in a very simple way.
You will also pass through historic places (Cao Bang, Dong Khê, That Khê, RC4), where particularly deadly fights took place between the Vietminh and the French in 1950. But fear not: the laughter and curiosity of the children towards you will quickly make you “forget” these tragic moments of history …

The path then descends to the small village of Daos where we will spend the night. 5h walk, elevation gain 630m.
